Front loaders used to be very expensive but in the last few years prices have lowered as design technology has become cheaper. They’re still more expensive than top loaders but I picked out a reasonably priced Front Loader, so that I could illustrate to you what exactly they do and how they’re different. Even if you don’t need a new Washing Machine. at the every least you’ll learn something from a man who lives a boring life as a Washing Machine expert. When it comes to the time when you do need a new one, then you could use what we’ll discuss in this article to help you choose the right one. This is the LG FH0B8NDL22 Fully-automatic Front-loading Washing Machine (6 kg, Blue White) review.
- Front Loading
- 6 motion
- Fully Automatic
- Rinse Hold
- Spin Speed
- Fuzzy Logic
- Ten Wash Programs
- Special Features
The design of Front Loading machines means that while you do less lifting, you will have to do some bending. They provide the best overall cleaning of clothes, and for people who live in cramped apartments, they’re perfect because they can be stacked. If you’ve had a Top Loader before and you’re used to being able to put clothes in mid-way through the wash then i’m sorry to say that you won’t be able to do this with a front loader. They are more energy efficient though, and due to their high-speed you’ll be getting a quicker dry time. Consider all these points and work out which ones appeal to you, and which ones don’t before making a buying choice.
This along with many LG machines has something called 6 Motion Direct Drive on board. Although it sounds like a technology you might find in a Laptop, it’s actually the wash method. Many of you will be familiar with pulsation and agitation and 6 Motion is best understood as a combination of the two. Inside the Drum your machine will scrub, roll, step, swing, tumble and filtrate your washing clean. It’s complex and if you’ve never seen it before, it’s very interesting and most importantly it works. I have no complaints about the wash method at all. It gets clothes perfectly clean whatever the stain. Scroll down to the Spin Speed section for more information about how this works because although excellent, the LG might take some getting used to.
There’s only ten Wash Programs on here but you do get two fabric specific programs for Wool and Cotton. I’d have liked to have seen more programs but there are a range of user-friendly options available that i’ll discuss below.
Unlike most Washing Machines for this price there are a range of spin speeds available. You can manually set the speed to 400, 800 or 1000rpm.s. The lower the Spin Speed the gentler the wash. If you’re not used to having different Spin Speed options then some experimentation is needed, but generally if you have tough stains then you want 1000rpm’s to ramp up the 6 motion technology. For moderate stains try 800 and for slight marks you should use 400rpm’s It’ll become second nature after a while but there is a learning curve.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to bother with manually setting the spin, then use Fuzzy Logic. Fuzzy Logic will automatically set the Timer, Spin Speed, and Program for you, so you don’t have to do anything but push one button. It’s a good solution that makes washing easier for people who dislike doing it. It’ll also save you money because Fuzzy Logic leans toward efficiency and with Front Loaders already being more efficient than Top Loaders you get the best of both worlds.
If you’ve ever had a Semi-Automatic machine you’ll remember always having to be there to switch Tubs before drying. You’ll also remember manually draining, and having to turn off the tap. You may remember having to manually set the dry program after the wash program was done. Well, Fully Automatic means your machine will do everything for you so the entire process from washing to drying is accessible and at the touch of a button. There’s no hanging around while the washing gets done. Just choose your program and go do something you like doing.
At 6kg the capacity is fair but not huge. You may not need huge though so it depends who you are and what size family you have. If you live on your own you wouldn’t want to spend more money on a larger model because there’s only you in the house. If you have a family of four, then 6kg would also be good. For larger families you’re pushing the limits of this Capacity so i’d recommend something with a larger Drum
Here i’m going to take you through a few of the extra features the LG has and you can decide for yourself if they appeal to you.
You get a smart Diagnosis system inside the machine which will diagnose any problems it may have. The cost of repairing a Fully Automatic front loader is greater than for example a top loading Semi. So, diagnosing a problem early is a clear advantage because it’ll reduce that cost and it’ll also give you a chance to take action. Many times you’ll just need to give your washer a good clean and that is completely free.
The Rinse Hold is for when you need to leave the house and also want to do washing. Just push the Rinse Hold button and your washer will hold your laundry before the final rinse to resume when you get back in. It’s very helpful and we see it more and more these days.
To improve the quality of results there’s a babycare function. This will raise the temperature to 95 degree’s and at this temperature it will kill most bacteria and enzymes for fresher clothes.
6 Motion is undoubtedly better than either pulsation or agitation for producing well-washed sweet smelling clothes. Included with this you get the option to manually set the Spin Speed and combine this with a specific program of your choosing. Once you’ve learn’t how to do this you’ll be able to tailor every wash to its specific needs. But that takes time right? In the meantime use the programs and Fuzzy Logic to get the best out of this machine. Bare in mind the Capacity and ask if this is suitable for you. And take into account the babycare function which is something that should be used regularly to increase quality. Overall i’d consider this an amazing Washing Machine.
