BPL 7.2 kg Fully Automatic Top Load Washing Machine (BFATL72N1) Review

The BPL 7.2kg Fully Automatic Top Load Washing Machine (BFATL72N1) was billed pre-release as an affordable solution to your washing needs. So the manufacturer said anyway. I’d heard lots of good things about it, but you can’t always believe everything you hear so I set out to run it through a few tests to find out exactly how good, or bad it is. It’s not perfect by any means but nothing in the world is. It does however have some interesting features that you read about right here.

Special Features

Pulsator Wash

Pulsators are gentler than Agitators because clothes aren’t coming into contact with the Spindle on the inside of the Drum. So if you have some delicate items of clothing you’ll probably prefer this. Pulses of water rush into the machine at high speed shifting your clothes around, so you get more water efficiency because every drop is actually washing your clothes. Despite being more efficient they take longer to wash clothes than machines with an Agitator on board.

Capacity

The Capacity here is 7,2kg, meaning you’ll be able to put 7kg of clothing into the machine at any one time. You should never fill washing machines up completely because this tends to damage clothes. So, the rule is to take 2 Tenths of the stated Capacity to get your Actual Capacity. 7kg is enough for a family of up to 6 people but if you have more, then i’d look for another option.

Wash Programs

You need a good Heavy Wash program with a Pulsator being gentler to start out, and there’s an excellent one here. There are 10 Wash Programs in total. Some machines have more than 20 and up to 30 so they’ve cut out most of the fabric-specific programs. Although, i’d say there is enough of a range to satisfy. Programs include Wool, Strong, Soft, Normal and Spin.

Fuzzy Logic

Think of Fuzzy Logic as a little computer inside your machine. It’s great for when you just want to do things without any hassle because it will weight your clothes and set itself to whatever combination of time and program is most efficient for that particular wash. Excellent inclusion. It means that if you’re unsure of which program to use, then you can turn on the Fuzzy Logic and go about your business. It also means that you have an option at your disposal that will ensure you’re washing in the most cost-effective manner.

Fully Automatic

Adding further to the efficiency, fully automatic machines don’t require you to change clothes from one Tub to another before drying. Just set the program or use Fuzzy Logic and you’re off and running. The combination of Pulsation, Fuzzy Logic and the Fully Automatic nature of this machine mean that it’s one of the most hassle free washers on the market. As with all Fully Automatics there’s a power resume which will restore all previous settings after a power failure and you also don’t have to spend time draining water manually.

Top Loader

Regarding time and effort, perhaps the only drawback of a machine like this is the fact that it’s a Top Loader. Top Loading machines involve more bending and lifting than Front Loading machines because of how they’re designed with the lid on the top. But, you can add clothes into the machine mid-way through, and the maintenance costs are less than those associated with Front Loading.

User Experience

With the Spin Cycle running at a maximum of 700rpm and with the Pulsator Wash Method some advice would be to either always use Fuzzy Logic. Or where you have tough stains, the Strong Wash program would get them off

On this Pulsator the Delicate Wash Program is far too delicate for most moderate to tough stains so I would avoid using this. Unless of course you want to just give your clothes a quick run through to make them smell better.

Conclusion

The BPL was designed for comfort and convenience and as such it does a gentle wash that can be boosted by the Strong Wash program. However when you use this program you’ll still find that it isn’t as tough as most machines with Agitators in. So, if you have children and they get dirty then you may want to avoid this. If your stains are mild to moderate then this will be a great machine for you, because it damages clothes much less than machines with Agitators and it also leaves them smelling sweetly. Its fully automatic nature and the fact that it has Fuzzy Logic means it’s the ultimate ‘no hassle’ machine for people with fast paced lifestyles. The Wash Programs are decent in number and the Capacity is really good for this price. Comes highly recommended.
