Best RO Water Purifier In India – 2019

Hmmm…you maybe wondering why someone would want to go for a RO water purifier instead of the whole deal RO+UV+UF? There are a couple of reasons as to why a person would chose this:

  1. RO purifiers are cheaper than RO+UV or RO+UV+UF
  2. They are also cheaper to maintain, the only thing that needs replacement is the RO membrane
  3. It is possible that natural minerals are better retained in just RO purification
  4. Water quality is good enough to be drinkable

Now to the bigger question: Should you choose a RO water purifier over a RO+UV+UF?

Personally, I’m not sure. An RO purifier gets the job done and there are really no pure RO purifiers, almost all water purifiers these days include a UV lamp. It depends on how much you value Rs.1-2k. Because the price difference between these two types of water purifiers is just around Rs. 1000 to 2000. The difference between the annual maintenance will also be another Rs. 1000-2000. So one would choose a RO only water purifier due to strict budget consideration, make no mistake though, RO+UV+UF is definetly better than just RO, just a bit pricier.

This article is aimed at people looking for the best RO Water Purifier in India, for those looking for the best overall water purifiers, we have an article here.

Best RO Purifier In India – 2019

1. KENT Super+ 8-Litres Mineral RO Water Purifier

Kent is one of most popular water purifier brands in India, I’m sure you’ve seen the Hema Malini ads. While I’m not a fan of Hema Malini, bitch looks she hasn’t used a broom in her lfe:

This particular RO water purifier however is probably the best in it’s category. The 8 litres capacity is standard in high end purifiers, it also comes with alarms that alert you when the membrane needs changing. It can purify TDS upto 2500, which means it’s good enough for all water sources like brackish, tap or municipal corporation water. It’s also a pretty decent looking water purifier, like the standard transparent Kent ones. Kent customer service is also pretty decent in most parts of India. Thus, if you are in the market for a RO only water purifier, this one is probably your best bet.

2. AquaDove Water Purifier RO

The price of this electric water purifier will surprise you, it costs you around 6k which is almost the same as a high end gravity based water purifier. It’s probably due to the fact that AquaDove is not a known brand. My research tells me that water purifier technology is pretty simplified these days and one could assemble their own purifier with a case and some parts. So it’s not surprising that there are many cheaper options today that are almost as good as the branded ones. This RO purifier is one such example, it has overall positive reviews and does it’s job as it’s supposed to. There are some cons though, for example, the company does not provide free installation and the guarantee terms are a bit dodgy.

3. Kent Wonder 7-Litre RO Mineral Water Purifier

This water purifier can even clean bore well water so you know it’s a strong one. It does have a casual UV lamp for a two stage filtration process. The design of this filter is one of the best on this list, it can be used as both a table top filter or a wall mounted one. It’s supposed to be detachable to permit for easy cleaning. The RO membrane has a one year warranty, what it means essentially is that once you buy this water purifier, you are sorted for atleast a year. Kent customer service is good enough to take care of you in case of any issues. I would recommend this one for those looking for something practical…

4. Samta BOREWELL Solution UP to 2000PPM RO Water Purifier

I really like this one because the company has designed it for very specific Indian conditions. I would highly recommend this filter for people suffering from low water pressure and high TDS in their water supply. This water purifier also has a very impressive 15 L capacity so it’s good enough for large Indian families. Lastly, priced at around Rs. 7000, this water filter represents great value for money. Customer reviews also say good things about their after sales service although you do have to opt for a paid installation costing around Rs. 450.

5. Blue Star Majesto MA3WBAM01 8-Litre RO Water Purifier

While Blue Star is mostly known as an air conditioners manufacturer, it is no slouch in the water purifiers department. Many of their water purifiers have decent ratings and their customer service is what you would expect from a large company. Also, I just think Blue Star makes the most beautiful looking electronics. Coming to the technical specifications, this water purifier has a 8L capacity, made of food grade plastic and has a 1 year warranty, all of which are pretty standard. The one thing interesting about this purifier is that it has a built in taste enhancer, so you can expect your water to be a little sweeter.

Final Thoughts:

An RO water purifier might be a smart choice for people looking to save on annual maintenance costs and want to keep the essential nutrients in the water intact. My list includes both old and new brands, affordable as well as high-end ones. As I said before though, this is a list of the best RO water purifiers in India, if you are looking for the best water purifiers, then we have an article here.
