India is trying to get fitter. These days you can find a gym in almost every locality but not everyone has time to visit the gym. Some people want to work in their own time and according to their own preferences, for these people buying a treadmill is a great option.
But if you aren’t a huge fitness buff, it would be difficult to sift through the different treadmill brands and features. You may also be wondering about which treadmill is right for you? Don’t let it overwhelm you though, as we are here to help with a list of the best treadmills in India for home use.
We created our list after doing extensive research and figured the criteria that makes a good treadmill:
- continuous duty motor with 1.25-2.5 horsepower
- atleast 48 inches long and 18 inches wide.
- supports enough speed, atleast 10mph.
- motor warranty atleast 2 years.
- treadmills with more display features (heart-rate, running distance) get ranked higher
- the lesser the noise, the higher the ranking
- represents good value for money
- To know on what basis we picked this criteria, check out our treadmill buying guide.
Best Treadmills For Home Use In India:
1. Cockatoo Velocity Steel DC Motorized Treadmill
Cockatoo is a international brand that not many Indians know about but it has very good reputation overseas. This treadmill meets all our criteria and at a lovely price, so we rank it on the top of the list. You only need to take a look at it’s reviews on Amazon and notice the universal acclaim this treadmill has received. Almost everybody who has bought this gives it a 5 star rating. What sets it’s apart is the high build quality and good balance of features. It can support upto 100kg weight with 3 incline levels. It’s also very beautiful and looks like a Rs. 50000 model.
2. Powermax Fitness – UrbanTrek TD-M4
This treadmill comes pre-assembled with a smartphone app, so you can control it from your mobile phone. It is one of the beautiful and maintenance free treadmills available in India. It is also known to create very little noise. Coming to the specifications, it meets all our criteria; 2HP motor, 3 year motor warranty, heart rate sensors etc. Only thing that can be complained about this model is the width, which at 16.9 inches is slightly narrow. So if you can deal with that, it is an amazing treadmill to get.
3. Durafit – Sturdy, Stable and Strong 2.5 HP, Peak (5.0HP) Treadmill
This is sturdy strong treadmill that should work for even the most enthusiastic home gym users. It can support weight upto to 120kg with 5HP peak motor. It also heavier than most other treadmills so you run on it with no care. Durafit was a start-up from Indian students from IIT A so it is nice to support Indian entrepreneurs.
4. Fitkit FT098 1.5 HP (2 HP peak) Motorized Treadmill
A cost-effective motorized treadmill that can be used for jogging and light running. This treadmill is not meant for heavy runners (above 90kg) but if you are looking for casual use, you can’t get better than this machine. The customer support of FitKit also responds very fast to queries. The large display and tons of other features like USB charging, speakers, cup holders etc. make it well worth the price.
Other Decent Treadmill That Did Not Meet Our Criteria:
There some other decent treadmills that did not meet 1 or 2 of our criteria. It would be wrong to exclude them from the list, so here’s a couple more:
Fitkit FT100 Series Motorized Treadmill with Manual Inclination
Why is this not our main list? Well, this treadmill has 1 year motor warranty (like most Fitkit treadmills), but most Fitkit treadmills are also very reasonably priced. At close to Rs. 30000, I did not find it very cost-effective. Other than these two things though, there is literally nothing wrong with this product. It supports upto 110 KG weight and has a 1.75 motor. It is ideal for walking and running for most individuals. Highly recommend this one.
Powermax Fitness TDM-98 1.5HP Light Weight Foldable Motorized Treadmill
Pretty good motor and features on this treadmill (like heart rate monitor etc.), but the build quality leaves something to be desired. I still recommend this for people who aren’t interested in running but only light walking. You don’t have to break the bank and can get a very respectable treadmill for a decent price.
I hope this list answered your question about which is the best treadmill in India. Sure you could purchase a Rs. 60000 treadmill and get something better, but if you have that kind of money then you are probably not looking at lists like this. Don’t diss this list until you check out their reviews and features. Hope you find something you like, good luck!
